Grant County man sentenced for firearms and drug offenses

Jacob Glen Vance, age 34, of Petersburg, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for possession of a machine gun and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, as part of another investigation, West Virginia State Police searched Vance’s home and storage unit. The search uncovered several firearms, including an unregistered machine gun, methamphetamine, and cash.

Vance will serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police conducted the investigation.

Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
