Abdulkarim Farah, a resident of Minneapolis, has entered a guilty plea related to bribery charges concerning a juror in the Feeding Our Future fraud trial, revealed Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. In April 2024, seven defendants faced trial before U.S. District Judge Nancy E. Brasel for the fraud scheme; among them were two of Farah's brothers.
During the trial, Farah collaborated with his brothers and others to bribe Juror 52 for a not guilty verdict. Court documents state that Farah surveilled Juror 52's location, sent her parking spot map, and helped co-defendant Ladan Ali deliver the bribe. On June 2, 2024, Farah recorded Ali delivering a bribe to Juror 52's relative.
Acting U.S. Attorney Kirkpatrick condemned the act: "The attempted bribery of Juror 52 is a shameful chapter in Minnesota history." Special Agent Alvin M. Winston Sr. emphasized this act undermined the justice system. The case results from an FBI-led investigation, with input from IRS – Criminal Investigation, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph H. Thompson, Matthew Ebert, Harry Jacobs, and Daniel Bobier are leading the prosecution. A sentencing date for Farah's plea will be announced later.
