Mario Caseiro-Antonio, a 37-year-old Mexican national, has received a 14-month prison sentence in Martinsburg, West Virginia, for reentering the United States after being removed. This ruling follows his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, after which authorities identified his illegal status and documented two prior deportations.
Following the completion of his prison term, Caseiro-Antonio will undergo a one-year supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Salem representing the government.
The investigation into Caseiro-Antonio's illegal reentry was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Customs and Immigration Enforcement and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. This effort is part of a broader national directive known as Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to harness the Department of Justice's resources to counteract illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and mitigate violent crime impacting communities. Operation Take Back America integrates efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
Presiding over the proceedings was U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh.
