A man from New Kensington, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for crimes related to cocaine trafficking. Keith Hurst, 48, received a 72-month prison term followed by four years of supervised release. This outcome was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti and delivered by United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan.
Court documents reveal that from August 2022 to March 2023, in the Western District of Pennsylvania, Hurst conspired to distribute and possessed with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Authorities intercepted Hurst on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of the drug for distribution.
Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. represented the government in this case. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and Homeland Security Investigations in leading the successful prosecution of Hurst. Additional contributing agencies included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, and United States Postal Inspection Service, along with other local law enforcement agencies.
The prosecution falls under an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation. This initiative targets high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations in the United States through a collaborative, intelligence-driven approach involving various law enforcement agencies.
