Orlando, Florida – Bailey Joseph Friese, a 23-year-old resident of Winter Park, has entered a guilty plea for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney. Friese could face up to 15 years in federal prison and has agreed to forfeit the Glock firearm involved in the offense. The sentencing date is yet to be determined.

As outlined in the plea agreement, Friese sold a Glock firearm in December 2023 while having a prior felony conviction for burglary. Under federal law, individuals with felony convictions are prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Seminole County City County Investigative Bureau conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Richard Varadan is prosecuting the case.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that unites various levels of law enforcement and communities to curb violent crime and gun violence. On May 26, 2021, the Department introduced a strategy aimed at reducing violent crime by enhancing PSN's core principles: fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting organizations that prevent violence, establishing strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
