A former resident of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 20 months in federal prison for firearms charges. Michael Guin, 27, will also serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. The sentence was imposed by Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
The court heard that on January 22, 2024, Guin and co-defendant Steyn Sarduy conspired to steal a truck. They used the stolen vehicle to break into a firearms store in New Kensington by crashing into it. The defendants then broke display cases and stole 24 firearms. As a convicted felon, Guin was not allowed to possess firearms.
Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty prosecuted the case for the government. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced the sentencing and commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their investigation leading to Guin's prosecution.
