Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced the sentencing of Servio Barros-Terreros to 320 months in federal prison. Barros-Terreros, a 58-year-old Ecuadorian citizen who last resided in Stamford, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny for recording his sexual abuse of a minor.

Court documents reveal that in December 2022, a minor female victim reported being sexually assaulted multiple times by Barros-Terreros when she was nine and ten years old. The victim stated that he took explicit pictures of her and threatened to publish them if she disclosed the abuse. He also instructed her to undress during video calls where he engaged in explicit conduct.

On January 12, 2023, Stamford Police arrested Barros-Terreros on state charges related to sexual assault and risk of injury offenses. His iPhone was seized and analyzed, revealing explicit images involving the minor victim.

Barros-Terreros has been detained since his arrest and pleaded guilty on March 5, 2024, to production of child pornography in federal court. Upon completing his prison term, he will face immigration proceedings.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Stamford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings is prosecuting the case with support from the Office of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford-Norwalk.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood Initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
