The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced the sentencing of Jose Carlos Vides-Torres, a 46-year-old native of El Salvador. On February 7, 2025, he was sentenced to time-served by United States District Court Chief Judge Matthew W. Brann for reentry of removed aliens.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Vides-Torres was found on September 10, 2022, in Bradford County after being arrested by the Pennsylvania State Police for driving under the influence of alcohol. He had previously been removed from the United States in 2008 and twice in 2011 without seeking or obtaining permission to return.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti prosecuted the case.
