A Baldwin County resident, Teddy Rivers, aged 57, has been sentenced to over 24 years in prison following his conviction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing took place in a federal court after Rivers entered a guilty plea to the charge in August 2024.
Court records indicate that Rivers has been involved in drug dealing within Baldwin County for an extended period. In August 2022, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on Rivers, during which he was found with 48.8 grams of pure methamphetamine. He confessed to regularly selling methamphetamine and having done so for a significant time. Rivers' criminal history includes a federal conviction for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine in 2007 and a state conviction for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in 2021.
United States District Court Judge Callie V.S. Granade handed down the sentence of 292 months of incarceration. Following his release, Rivers will undergo an eight-year term of supervised release. During this period, he will be subject to searches based on reasonable suspicion of supervision violations and will also face drug testing and treatment requirements. No fine was levied; however, the judge mandated that Rivers pay $100 in special assessments.
The investigation into the case was conducted by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
