Federal grand jury announces September indictments

United States Attorney Clint Johnson announced the results of the September Federal Grand Jury 2024-A Indictments.

The following individuals have been charged with violations of United States law in indictments returned by the Grand Jury. The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged violations of federal law, which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

Esteban Abarca-Calbario is charged with unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Abarca-Calbario, 45, a Mexican national, is accused of unlawfully reentering the United States after having been removed in January 2023. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations is the investigative agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cheryl L. Baber is prosecuting the case (24-CR-281).

Gerardo Becerra-Quiroz faces charges for unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Becerra-Quiroz, 36, a Mexican national, allegedly reentered the United States unlawfully after being removed in May 2020. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations is the investigative agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Harris is prosecuting the case (24-CR-282).

Courtney Jamar Calamease has been indicted as a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition on two counts (superseding). Calamease, 34, from Tulsa, is accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition in May 2024 and August 2024 while knowing he was previously convicted of felonies. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Tulsa Police Department are the investigative agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mallory Richard is prosecuting the case (24-CR-252).

Raul Yepez Garcia has been charged with assaulting a federal officer and being an alien unlawfully in possession of a firearm. Yepez Garcia, 46, a Mexican national, allegedly resisted, impeded, and assaulted a federal officer with a deadly weapon while performing his official duty. Additionally, he allegedly possessed a firearm knowing he was an unlawful alien in the United States. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Tulsa Police Department are investigating this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney George Jiang is prosecuting (24-CR-292).

Michael Vincent Martin faces multiple charges including assault by strangling an intimate/dating partner in Indian Country; abusive sexual contact by force; tampering with witnesses; sexual abuse without consent; cyberstalking; among others (superseding). Martin, 34 from Tulsa, allegedly committed these offenses against his intimate partner within Indian Country jurisdiction areas between March to July 2024 . FBI along with Broken Arrow Police Department led investigations under Assistant US Attorney Stacey P Todd's prosecution efforts(24 CR180)

Victor Muniz-Nieto stands accused under allegations involving unlawful reentry after previous removal dating back February year before last(2016) . US ICE&Removal Ops spearheaded inquiry into matter followed up via AUSA Christian Harris handling procedural matters(24 CR283)

Steve Earl Perry Jr faces allegations regarding escape from Federal Custody whilst confined Turley Residential Center premises during specified timeframe(summer months). BATFE jointly TPD involved probes ensuing criminal charges led AsstUSAttorney Charles Greenough prosecutorial duties assigned thereto,(case no:244r284).
