Misael Garcia-Diaz, a 34-year-old Honduran national, was indicted on April 8, 2025, by a federal grand jury for illegal reentry into the United States. This announcement came from the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated the indictment accuses Garcia-Diaz of a previous deportation from the United States on April 22, 2014, through Brownsville, Texas. The indictment further claims he was found in the United States without legal permission as of February 6, 2025, in Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur.

This case is part of "Operation Take Back America," a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice. The initiative aims to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime perpetrators.

The offense could carry a maximum penalty of ten years of imprisonment, a supervised release term, and a fine. Sentences are determined by a judge in accordance with federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.

It is important to note that indictments consist only of allegations, and all accused individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
