A Ferguson man, Theodise Reece, 37, was sentenced to 93 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp. Reece, convicted of selling fentanyl and methamphetamine to undercover officers, will serve approximately nine years due to time already spent in custody since his arrest on August 30, 2023.
Reece's legal troubles began following tips to the St. Louis County Police Department in June 2023, regarding his alleged drug sales. An undercover operation revealed that Reece sold $100 worth of fentanyl on June 14 and $150 worth of methamphetamine six days later. Reece confessed to these charges in his guilty plea.
His activities led to a search warrant for his residence. Authorities apprehended him during an undercover operation on August 30, 2023. During the arrest, police discovered a semiautomatic pistol with a round in the chamber and an extended magazine in his vehicle. They also found nearly 40 grams of fentanyl, 225 grams of methamphetamine, and other drugs on his person. Reece confessed that drug sales were his means of livelihood. An AR-style rifle was also recovered from his home.
In November, Reece pleaded guilty to three felonies: distribution of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Drug Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nino Przulj prosecuted the case. This judicial action forms part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by strengthening trust in communities and supporting violence prevention initiatives.
