A resident of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, has admitted guilt to a federal firearm charge. Tyland Witherspoon, aged 28, entered his plea on March 18, 2025, before United States District Judge William S. Stickman IV. The charge was for one count of felony possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to court information related to the guilty plea, Witherspoon was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition on June 19, 2024. This occurred while he was the sole occupant of a vehicle in Pittsburgh's Northview Heights area. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Judge Stickman has set Witherspoon’s sentencing date for July 28, 2025. The law allows for a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a fine that could reach $250,000. However, the actual sentence will depend on the seriousness of the offense and Witherspoon's prior criminal history.
Witherspoon is currently detained awaiting sentencing.
