A second individual has confessed to participating in a scheme to defraud banks across ten states, including Rhode Island. Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom announced that Jaymark Larios, 23, from Bronx, NY, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud. His sentencing is set for June 10, 2025.

Court documents reveal that Larios and his associates recruited individuals and gathered their photographs and personal identifying information (PII). This data was used to create fake IDs with the conspirators' photos and the recruits' PII.

The scheme involved obtaining PII from at least 28 individuals and information from 20 business entities. The conspirators used this data to forge IDs and checks. They traveled with recruits to banks in various states, including Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, and others to cash these fraudulent checks.

The conspiracy aimed to defraud banks of approximately $143,000 but succeeded in defrauding twenty-two banks of about $93,200.

Previously on February 27, 2025, Paul Keenan, 54, also from Bronx, NY admitted his involvement in the conspiracy by pleading guilty to the same charge. His sentencing is scheduled for May 27, 2025.

Assistant United States Attorney Christine Lowell is prosecuting the cases. The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the East Providence Police Department with help from the Portsmouth Police Department.
