A Guatemalan citizen has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for illegal re-entry into the United States. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
The indictment charges Anastacio Hernandez-Us, 46, as the sole defendant. According to the indictment, Hernandez-Us was found in western Pennsylvania on February 7, 2025, after being removed from the United States in September 2010.
The law stipulates a maximum sentence of up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 or both. The actual sentence will depend on the seriousness of the offense and Hernandez-Us's prior criminal history.
Assistant United States Attorney Kelly M. Locher is handling the prosecution for this case. The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
