The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced the sentencing of Robert Mansberger, 59, from Cassville, Pennsylvania. On January 14, 2025, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Matthew W. Brann sentenced Mansberger to 102 months in prison and ten years of supervised release for attempted enticement of a minor.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus reported that on November 10, 2023, law enforcement conducted an undercover operation involving an online advertisement for sexual services of minors. Mansberger responded to this ad with multiple messages expressing his intent to engage in sexual activities with a 13-year-old minor.

The investigation was carried out by several agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, Patton Township Police Department, Centre County District Attorney’s Office, Williamsport Police, and Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alisan V. Martin led the prosecution.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to prosecute individuals who exploit children and rescue victims.
