Noah Torres, a 47-year-old resident of Kenner, Louisiana, has entered a guilty plea to charges related to the possession of materials involving the sexual abuse of minors. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson on February 20, 2025.
Torres faces potential penalties including a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and/or a fine up to $250,000. Additionally, he could receive a term of supervised release ranging from five years to life following his incarceration. A mandatory special assessment fee of $100 is also applicable.
Court documents reveal that Torres was arrested on July 24, 2023, at his home in Kenner after federal agents executed a search warrant. During this operation by Special Agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Torres confessed to possessing 219 images and 340 videos showing prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit activities.
Sentencing for Torres is set for May 22, 2025, before United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon.
This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. This program mobilizes federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute offenders exploiting children online while also identifying and rescuing victims.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of various law enforcement agencies involved in this case including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's HSI offices in Portland and New Orleans; the Kenner Police Department; and the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba is handling prosecution as Project Safe Childhood Coordinator and Chief of Financial Crimes Unit.
