Valerie Huber, President and CEO of the Institute for Women’s Health, expressed support for former President Donald J. Trump's decision to rejoin the United States to the Geneva Consensus Declaration (GCD). Huber stated, "I commend President Donald J. Trump for fulfilling his promise to rejoin the Geneva Consensus Declaration (GCD), a first-of-its-kind global coalition of nations dedicated to improving women’s health, strengthening families, affirming that abortion is not an international human right, and upholding the sovereign right of nations to govern free from ideological colonialism."

The United States Mission to the United Nations confirmed earlier that day that the U.S. had officially rejoined as the 40th member nation. The mission's statement highlighted the Trump administration's commitment "to promoting women’s health and the preservation of family values that the international coalition as a whole, and its individual member states, support through national policy and legislation."

Huber emphasized that this action would restore America's leadership in global health diplomacy. She added, "Our Institute continues to be a key champion of the GCD, recognizing this commitment of nations is an essential foundation for accelerated health and well-being for women and girls."

She criticized the previous administration's withdrawal from GCD under President Biden, claiming it undermined efforts to advance women's health globally. Despite challenges faced over recent years, Huber noted that GCD has expanded its membership.

"By rejoining," she said, "President Trump sends a bold message that the United States stands with sovereign nations to defend the real health needs of women against coercive tactics by global power players." Huber expressed gratitude for Trump's leadership role in promoting women's health both domestically and internationally.

The Institute for Women’s Health describes itself as a unique organization in promoting women's highest attainable health across all life stages. It engages with various entities worldwide aiming at optimal women's health outcomes.
