Lildre S. Brown, a 36-year-old resident of Markham, Illinois, has been sentenced to 85 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl. The sentencing was announced by Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson delivered the sentence on November 7, 2024. After serving his prison term, Brown will undergo six years of supervised release.
Brown pleaded guilty to the charges on July 18, 2024. Between December 2023 and February 2024, he distributed heroin laced with fentanyl on three occasions in the Madison area. On one occasion, co-defendant Nicole Sanders delivered nearly 100 grams of fentanyl at Brown's direction. On two other occasions, co-defendant Simmeka Tibbs made deliveries for him. A search warrant executed at Sanders' residence led to the discovery of an additional 72 grams of fentanyl in her car trunk.
At the time these offenses occurred, Brown was under supervised release from a prior federal drug conviction. Consequently, Judge Peterson revoked this supervision and imposed an additional two-year prison term to be served concurrently with his current sentence.
During sentencing, Judge Peterson expressed concern over Brown's continued drug activities while under federal supervision and the involvement of others in his criminal acts.
All individuals charged in this trafficking scheme have admitted guilt. Tibbs is scheduled for sentencing on November 19, 2024, followed by Sanders on November 22, 2024.
The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by several agencies: the Drug Enforcement Administration; Rock County Sheriff’s Office; Madison Police Department; and Markham Illinois Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney William M. Levins prosecuted the case.
