Jonathan Rodriguez, a 39-year-old resident of Wausau, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley on November 6, 2024, following Rodriguez's guilty plea on August 9, 2024.

Law enforcement officials received information indicating that Rodriguez was in possession of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine. Upon locating him in downtown Wausau, officers conducted a search and found 319 grams of methamphetamine, some pre-packaged for distribution. Rodriguez also confessed to having sold approximately one pound of methamphetamine shortly before his arrest.

During sentencing, Judge Conley remarked on Rodriguez's extensive criminal history and noted that he had spent nearly half his life incarcerated without making significant changes. The judge considered both Rodriguez's criminal record and his challenging upbringing when determining the sentence.

The investigation leading to Rodriguez's charge was carried out by the Wausau Police Department and the Marathon County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis Glinzak prosecuted the case.
