Felix Mackey, a resident of Gretna, Louisiana, was sentenced on September 25, 2024, by United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo. Mackey had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine hydrochloride, and cocaine base. This is in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 846. He also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm under Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2). Mackey received a sentence of 192 months imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.
Court documents reveal that Mackey sold methamphetamine to a confidential source on three occasions in May 2021. On June 3, 2021, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Mackey’s residence. They found 92.127 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, 99.31 grams of cocaine, and 10.13 grams of cocaine base. Authorities also seized a black Taurus Model PT111 nine-millimeter pistol loaded with eleven bullets. Mackey had previously been convicted of a felony in Plaquemines Parish.
This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021. The strategy emphasizes fostering trust within communities, supporting community-based violence prevention organizations, setting focused enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
The investigation was conducted by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Rachal Cassagne from the Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case.
