Learn about upcoming construction work on SR 16, SR 160/Sedgwick Road in Kitsap County

PORT ORCHARD – The public will have two opportunities to learn more about an upcoming fish barrier removal project near Port Orchard. The Washington State Department of Transportation is hosting both an online and in-person open house to share plans on removing fish passage barriers in Salmonberry Creek and Blackjack Creek.

Work at Blackjack Creek under the State Route 16 interchange at Sedgwick Road is planned summer 2023. Work at Salmonberry Creek under SR 160/Sedgwick Road is scheduled late summer 2024.

Online open house information

When: Monday, Sept. 19, to Sunday, Oct. 23

Where: engage.wsdot.wa.gov/sedgwick/

Free WiFi access is available at these locations for people who wish to participate in the online open house/meeting:

  • Port Orchard Library, 87 Sidney St., Port Orchard
  • Manchester Library, 8067 Main St., Port Orchard
Additional free Wi-Fi Hotspots locations are listed via the Washington State Department of Commerce website.

In-person open house information

When: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27

Where: Port Orchard Eagles, 4001 Jackson Ave. SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366

Details: The in-person open house will have the same information as the online open house. There is no formal presentation. Attendees are welcome to join any time during the two-hour event. Project team members will be available to explain the project, answer questions and take comments.

The project is scheduled to begin in 2023 and will be complete in 2025.
