For all the vitriol coming from President Donald  Trump regarding preparations for the upcoming election, particularly mail-in voting, Washington State officials indicate they are ready.

That was the word offered during a virtual work session of the state’s Senate State Government, Tribal Relations and Elections Committee recently. It took testimony from a number of people including county auditors, the secretary of state’s office and a postal worker union leader, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported.

“I have confidence that we’re ready and the post office is ready to handle the capacity for this upcoming general election,” Garth Fell, the auditor in Snohomish County said, OPB reported.

The auditor said they will have daily meetings with the postal service over the course of the 18-day election period.

The vice-president of the American Postal Workers Union Seattle Office David Yao noted there has been some changes including the loss of some processing machines and requirement mail trucks leave on time even if mail is not ready. Even with those changes, he said it should only result in a one-day delay at the most in a fraction of cases, the OBP reported. It also reported a Postal Service spokesperson said the key is for voters to drop their ballots before the final mail pick-up of the day.
