A Raleigh resident, Christopher Ivan White, has been sentenced to 90 months in prison for possession of a firearm as a felon according to information from authorities. White, aged 58, entered a guilty plea on December 19, 2024.
Court documents indicate that on April 8, 2024, White was involved in a shooting incident outside Renegade Motors, situated at 2621 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh. During the incident, White shot a man in the left thigh. Emergency medical services attended to the injured man, while Raleigh Police officers initiated a search for White, who had left the scene and attempted to discard his firearm. White was apprehended in the nearby vicinity along with the firearm and was also found in possession of cocaine.
White's previous criminal record includes felony convictions for breaking and entering, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and embezzlement, classifying him as prohibited from firearm possession.
This announcement was made by Daniel P. Bubar, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, following the sentencing conducted by U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in conjunction with the Raleigh Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Nokes and Evelyn S. Yarborough.
