America First Legal (AFL) has requested a federal investigation into the Bethel, Ohio public school system, accusing it of violating Title IX and an Executive Order issued by former President Trump. This request was made to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, and it concerns policies relating to the use of restrooms and locker rooms designated by gender identity.

According to AFL, the Bethel School District allows individuals to use sex-segregated facilities that align with their preferred gender identity, which they claim is unlawful.

Earlier, AFL achieved a victory in a similar case against five Northern Virginia school districts when they filed a complaint with the Department of Education.

AFL had previously initiated legal action against the Bethel Local School District over these policies. The district continues to defend its stance in a legal battle in the federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

AFL has reiterated its commitment to ensure compliance with the law, stating, "we will keep fighting to protect our children."

Ian Prior, Senior Advisor at America First Legal, expressed his stance: “By continuing to allow boys to use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms based on their ‘gender identity,’ Bethel School District is blatantly defying common sense, federal law, state law, and President Trump’s Executive Orders. If Bethel wants to continue to live in a make-believe land where one’s sex is just a guesstimate, it should do so without federal funding. It’s really that simple.”
