A Pittsburgh resident has entered a guilty plea to federal drug and firearm charges, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti. On March 24, 2025, Marques Coffey, aged 21, admitted guilt before Senior United States District Judge David S. Cercone for two federal violations: possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking offense.
The court was informed that on March 4, 2023, Coffey was found with fentanyl and a loaded firearm after being detained following an alleged incident involving the breaking of a window at a residence in Bellevue, Pennsylvania.
Judge Cercone has set the sentencing date for August 5, 2025. The potential maximum sentence could be up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $1 million or both. The actual sentence will depend on the severity of the offenses and any prior criminal history of Coffey.
Coffey remains in custody awaiting sentencing. Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey is handling the prosecution for this case.
The investigation leading to Coffey's prosecution was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Bellevue Police Department.
