Eric Rodriguez, a 32-year-old inmate at FCI Allenwood, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for possessing a weapon in prison. The indictment was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and occurred on February 27, 2025.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that the indictment alleges Rodriguez had a razor blade wrapped in electrical tape to create a handle, measuring approximately 2 1/4 inches in length, on January 31, 2025.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Zenzinger is handling the prosecution.
If convicted, Rodriguez faces a maximum penalty under federal law of five years imprisonment and a fine. Sentencing would also include supervised release following imprisonment. Any sentence would be determined by the Judge after considering federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
It is important to note that indictments are merely allegations. All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
