Fareed Davis, a 47-year-old resident of Camden, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 46 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release. The sentencing was handed down by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Davis had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances such as fluorofentanyl, fentanyl, and tramadol. Between March 2018 and December 2020, Davis was involved in distributing at least 40 grams of opioids or approximately 1,200 individual doses.
The investigation was conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Alisan V. Martin prosecuting the case.
This case is part of a district-wide initiative aimed at combating the widespread epidemic of heroin use and distribution. The Heroin Initiative is led by the United States Attorney’s Office and targets traffickers operating within the Middle District of Pennsylvania through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, this case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence while making neighborhoods safer. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, which strengthens PSN based on principles such as fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting community-based organizations for violence prevention, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
