Samuel Rodriguez, a 27-year-old resident of Northumberland County, has been sentenced to 96 months in prison for his involvement in drug trafficking. The sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann and includes four years of supervised release following the prison term.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Rodriguez admitted to distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine between October 2022 and February 2023 in Northumberland County. In total, he distributed around 270 grams of methamphetamine, equivalent to approximately 1,350 single doses, along with 29 grams of fentanyl, roughly equating to 1,000 single doses.
Rodriguez's co-defendant, Paris DeSimone, received a sentence of 42 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release.
The investigation was conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alisan V. Martin prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that unites law enforcement at all levels with communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, which aims to enhance PSN through principles such as fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
