A Shreveport man, Quintell Dewayne Gladney, has been sentenced to over 21 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr., as announced by Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook.

The incident leading to Gladney's arrest occurred on May 26, 2020, when officers from the Shreveport Police Department conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. During the interaction, an officer noticed what appeared to be a firearm in Gladney's waistband. Upon learning that Gladney was a convicted felon, officers requested him to exit the vehicle. When he refused, they removed him from the car for safety reasons and discovered a loaded FN Herstal Model Five Seven 5.7x28 pistol.

In addition to the firearm, officers found over $3,000 in cash and several small bags of cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana packaged for distribution inside the vehicle. They also recovered over 41 rounds of 5.7x28 caliber ammunition.

Gladney pleaded guilty on July 31, 2023, admitting to illegally possessing the firearm. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the Shreveport Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert F. Moody.
