The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced that Jorge A. Guzman-Montano, a 52-year-old from El Salvador, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegal reentry into the United States after being deported.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that the indictment claims Guzman-Montano was previously deported on April 21, 2017, through Laredo, Texas. It is further alleged that he was found in the United States without legal permission to return. On February 12, 2025, he was reportedly encountered in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
The investigation into this case was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Dukes is handling the prosecution.
If convicted, Guzman-Montano could face a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment, a supervised release term following imprisonment, and a fine. The sentence would be determined by a judge who will consider federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
It is important to note that indictments are only allegations. Individuals charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
