Juwon Anderson, a 22-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., ATF Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the Washington Field Division, and Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson has set the sentencing for June 5, 2025. Anderson was apprehended on December 15, 2023, and has remained in custody since his arrest.
Others implicated in the conspiracy include Vincent Lee Alston (also known as "Vedo"), Niquan Odumn (known as "Stickz" and "Debo"), both aged 22 from Washington D.C.; Cy’Juan Hemsley (referred to as "Juan"), aged 18 from District Heights, Maryland; and Tyjuan McNeal, aged 28 from Washington D.C.
Court documents reveal that on December 13, 2023, Anderson and at least four accomplices traveled from Washington D.C. to A & D Pawn Shop in Maryland using two vehicles. Upon arrival, one co-conspirator used a portable saw to cut locks on a security gate covering the shop's entrance while another pried open the main door with a crowbar-type tool. The group entered the store and stole at least 34 firearms from shelves and display racks before advertising them for sale on social media. Anderson was arrested two days later with two stolen firearms in his possession.
The case is under investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division along with the Metropolitan Police Department and assistance from ATF Baltimore Field Division. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shehzad Akhtar and Ryan Lipes.
