Senior United States District Judge Brian J. Davis has sentenced Loranzia Outin, III to six years and five months in federal prison for firearm possession as a convicted felon. Outin, 48, from Jacksonville, pleaded guilty on December 12, 2024.

Court records indicate that in February and March 2024, confidential informants purchased controlled substances from Outin. On March 22, 2024, deputies from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and their SWAT team executed a search warrant at his residence during a drug investigation. In Outin's room, officers found a 9mm pistol, a .22 caliber revolver, and two bags of methamphetamine. At that time, Outin had ten prior felony convictions including selling methamphetamine and possession of cocaine. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Brenna Falzetta prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched a strategy on May 26, 2021, to strengthen PSN by fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
