The political action committee of Washington state's largest small business association has announced its final endorsements for the state legislature. The group endorsed 22 candidates, including incumbents, those running in open seats, and challengers to current legislators.
Patrick Connor, state director for NFIB in Washington, stated that the endorsement process is thorough: "We take a little more time and care in choosing the candidates we endorse for the Legislature because we need to be sure they understand the differences between big businesses and mom-and-pop, Main Street, small enterprises in terms of public policy goals and impact."
The committee also provided recommendations on four ballot initiatives scheduled for November 5. The total number of pre- and post-primary endorsements now stands at 36. A full list of endorsed candidates can be found on their election webpage.
In the State Senate race, endorsements went to Leonard Christian (LD-04), Chad Magendanz (LD-05), Brad Benton (LD-18), and Maia Espinoza (LD-28). For the State House, several representatives were endorsed including Rep. Andrew Barkis (LD-02), Rob Chase (LD-04), Rep. Mike Volz (LD-06), among others.
On ballot initiatives, NFIB WA PAC recommended a "YES" vote on repealing the capital gains tax (I-2109), stopping the hidden gas tax (I-2117), opting out of the long-term care act (I-2124), and protecting clean natural gas and energy choice (I-2066).
