A defendant charged with the murder of U.S. Army Sgt. Andre S. Stewart Jr. at Fort Eisenhower will remain in federal custody following a court decision. Natravien Landry, 25, from Abbeville, Louisiana, who serves in the Army National Guard, is facing murder charges.

During a hearing on December 18, U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Brian K. Epps ruled that Landry should be detained until further legal proceedings take place.

Landry's preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 23 at 2 p.m., where he will again appear before Judge Epps.

The investigation into the case is being conducted by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division. The prosecution team includes Southern District of Georgia Assistant U.S. Attorneys Henry W. Syms Jr., Patricia G. Rhodes, and Kelsey L. Scanlon, along with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Capt. Jacqueline M. Stryker.
