On November 14, 2024, Patrick Bryant Hawley, aged 42 and a resident of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, was taken into custody in Chattanooga. The arrest was carried out by agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Hawley faces charges related to the sexual exploitation of children.

Hawley's initial court appearance occurred at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday in the United States District Court in Chattanooga. The session was presided over by United States Magistrate Judge Susan K. Lee. Following this proceeding, Hawley was detained. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, with a trial date to be determined later.

The specifics of the charges are detailed in the arrest warrant and supporting affidavit. These documents have been filed as public records in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

United States Attorney Francis M. Hamilton III from the Eastern District of Tennessee made the announcement along with Special Agent in Charge Rana Saoud from HSI and Special Agent in Charge Joseph E. Carrico from the FBI.

HSI urges anyone who suspects they or someone they know may be a victim of child exploitation to contact them at (877) 4-HSI-TIP or online at www.ice.gov/tipline.

The public is reminded that these are only charges and every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
