Dairon Jissan Rodriguez-Escalante, a 27-year-old legal permanent resident from Cuba residing in Maricopa, Arizona, was sentenced to 33 months in prison last week by United States District Judge Angela M. Martinez. The sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. Rodriguez-Escalante had pleaded guilty to Possession with the Intent to Distribute Fentanyl on March 27, 2024.

In 2021, Rodriguez-Escalante was identified through social media as a supplier of counterfeit M30 pills containing fentanyl for individuals who distributed narcotics via mail. In October and November of that year, he sold over 650 grams of blue M30 pills containing fentanyl to agents from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Drug Enforcement Administration on two separate occasions.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service, Drug Enforcement Administration-St. Louis Office, Peoria Police Department, and Mesa Police Department Forensic Laboratory. The prosecution was handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona in Phoenix.
