Gov. Jay Inslee released a list of the members of a new task force that will help in providing recommendations for legislation regarding independent investigations and police use of force, according to a press release from the governor.

Inslee's task force will include 24 individuals, including NAACP members, police chiefs, attorneys, community advocates and religious leaders.

The task force will meet sometime in early July for its first meeting and then will meet regularly into the fall.

“We must listen to the voices of impacted communities and families to hear their experiences with policing,” Inslee said in the release. “This work will inform legislation and help chart a path towards addressing some of these systemic and extremely harmful practices and policies that have impacted communities of color for generations.”

The task force will provide insight and feedback as part of an effort to help legislators work on reforms.
