The University of Washington Huskies baseball team will resume Big Ten play against the University of Michigan Wolverines on Friday, April 23. The series will be held in Ann Arbor, with all three games broadcast on Big Ten Plus and live statistics available at HuskyStats.com. The Huskies currently hold an 8-10 record in conference play, placing them eighth, while the Wolverines are sixth with a 10-8 record.
This matchup is significant as both teams look to improve their standings within the competitive Big Ten Conference. Washington has demonstrated strong performances recently, including a dominant neutral site victory over Portland where they allowed just two hits and struck out 17 batters—matching their season high for strikeouts in a game.
Several individual players have contributed to Washington’s successes this season. Jackson Hotchkiss leads the team offensively with a .350 batting average and has set new career highs with 13 home runs despite missing the first month due to injury. On the mound, Noah Kenney has earned national recognition for his pitching, including being named to Baseball America’s National Team of the Week after recording a career-high 14 strikeouts against Valparaiso.
Head Coach Eddie Smith is now in his second season leading the Huskies after joining from Utah Valley University in July 2024. Under Smith’s guidance, several players have made notable debuts and improvements across both offense and defense. The team’s pitching staff ranks among national leaders in several categories such as strikeout-to-walk ratio (44th), walks allowed per nine innings (47th), WHIP (58th), and strikeouts per nine innings (71st). Offensively, Washington leads the Big Ten with 15 triples this season—eighth-most nationally—and ranks eleventh in conference home runs.
Looking ahead, after facing Michigan this weekend, Washington will take on Eastern Michigan before returning home for their final three-game series against UCLA. Those games are scheduled for broadcast on Big Ten Network later this May.
