Ryan Isbell, a 36-year-old resident of Tallahassee, Florida, has pleaded guilty in federal court to the production of child pornography. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
U.S. Attorney Heekin stated: “I am truly thankful for the tremendous work of our local and federal law enforcement partners to investigate and put an end to this defendant’s sexual exploitation of minors. Protecting the most vulnerable members of our community from disgusting predators is a top priority, and my office will aggressively prosecute these cases to bring offenders like this to justice for victimizing our kids.”
According to court documents, the Tallahassee Police Department received reports in 2020 that Isbell’s social media account contained child pornography. When officers executed an arrest warrant in November 2020, they found a minor victim who had been exploited by Isbell. A search of his computer and cellphone confirmed that he had recorded the exploitation.
Isbell faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and could receive up to 30 years, followed by lifetime supervision after release.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Tallahassee Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. First Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Spaven is prosecuting the case.
Sentencing is set for November 6, 2025, at 10:00 am at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before United States District Judge Mark Walker.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
