Sweetgrass Pediatrics announced on May 5 the acquisition of Seaside Pediatrics, integrating the Bluffton and Hilton Head pediatric offices into its operations effective May 4. The move brings together two established healthcare providers, with Seaside Pediatrics having served families in South Carolina’s Lowcountry for nearly two decades.
The integration aims to improve access to pediatric services for local families by maintaining continuity of care. Dr. Maureen Berrigan, founder of Seaside Pediatrics, and her team will remain on staff indefinitely so patients can continue seeing their trusted providers.
Seaside Pediatrics will keep its current hours—8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday—and now offers expanded services through Sweetgrass Pediatrics and its sister practice SouthernMED Pediatrics. Families will gain access to a broader healthcare network across South Carolina, including telehealth options, behavioral health specialists, online scheduling, and text-based communication.
“This partnership allows us to build on the strong foundation established by Dr. Berrigan and her Seaside Pediatrics team,” said Dr. Colleen Boylston of Sweetgrass Pediatrics. “Together, we can expand access, streamline the patient experience, and continue providing high-quality care to families across our communities.” Dr. Berrigan said: “We are incredibly proud of the care we’ve built within our community. This integration gives our patients expanded access to resources, enhanced coordination of care, and continued support from the same trusted team they know today.” She added that it ensures personalized care continues while benefiting from a larger network.
Sweetgrass Pediatrics has served South Carolina’s Lowcountry for over twenty years with twelve locations offering comprehensive pediatric and adolescent services. Founded by Dr. Boylston as part of US Pediatric Partners, Sweetgrass provides innovative offerings such as telemedicine and integrated behavioral health.
The acquisition reflects ongoing efforts by both organizations to ensure children throughout South Carolina have continued access to high-quality family-centered medical care.
