Donald Trump has introduced new tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. This executive order enacts a 25% tariff on all goods from Canada and Mexico. The intention is to pressure these countries to address illegal immigration and drug trafficking issues.

Oren Cass, the director of American Compass, a conservative think tank, supports the tariffs. He believes they can motivate companies to retain more manufacturing operations within the United States. Cass suggests that this could enhance national defense and supply chain security.
