The Republican Party's recent electoral success has been attributed to its newfound appeal among working-class voters, prompting discussions in Washington about a potential long-term political shift. However, the economic agenda being developed by Republicans in Congress seems to favor wealthier Americans while potentially reducing support for programs that assist low-income individuals with healthcare and food.

Some members of the party express frustration over this direction, especially given the evolving base of Republican support. Oren Cass, founder of the think tank American Compass and a prominent figure in the New Right movement, criticized the current approach. “They have this old script they think they’re supposed to be reading off that says we’re going to cut taxes for high-income families and cut benefits for the poor,” Cass stated. He further commented on the outdated nature of this strategy, suggesting that while it may have aligned with past Republican priorities, it no longer fits the current political landscape.

Cass's remarks highlight a disconnect between the party's historical policy framework and its present-day voter base. This ongoing reliance on traditional fiscal policies raises questions about how effectively Republicans can balance their agenda with their constituents' needs.
