Antonio Kingsbury, a 36-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including interference with interstate commerce by robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Kingsbury is suspected of participating in at least seventeen armed robberies across the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area from January 9 to November 7, 2024. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge David Geist.
The criminal complaint suggests that a masked gunman is responsible for these robberies at various businesses such as Subway restaurants, Starbucks, local DMV eateries, a Virginia ABC store, Chipotle, Popeye’s restaurants, 7-Eleven stores, and a tobacco shop.
During the search of Kingsbury's home, authorities recovered a firearm and clothing allegedly used during the robberies. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on November 12, 2024.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI Washington Field Office's Violent Crimes Task Force alongside the Metropolitan Police Department. Additional support came from Arlington County Police Department, Bladensburg Police Department, and Prince George’s County Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin F. Song is prosecuting the case.
It is important to note that a criminal complaint is an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
