Brothers from Iowa and Utah have been taken into custody for allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers during the January 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. The alleged actions of Christopher Jordan, 48, from St. George, Utah, and Earl Jordan, 50, from Dickens, Iowa, reportedly disrupted a joint session of Congress convened to certify electoral votes for the 2020 presidential election.

The brothers face felony charges including assaulting officers and obstructing law enforcement during civil disorder. They are also charged with misdemeanors such as unlawfully entering restricted buildings or grounds and engaging in disorderly conduct within a Capitol building.

Christopher Jordan was arrested by the FBI in St. George, Utah; his initial court appearance will be in the District of Utah. Earl Jordan was apprehended in Spencer, Iowa; he will appear initially in the Northern District of Iowa.

Court documents indicate that on January 6th at around 2:04 p.m., both men were present on the West Front of the Capitol grounds. Police body-worn camera footage captured them near north scaffolding—an area pivotal to that day's events.

It is claimed that Earl and Christopher engaged confrontationally with law enforcement officers there. As MPD officers navigated through rioters on the Lower West Terrace, it is alleged that an officer brushed past Earl Jordan who then allegedly elbowed him off balance.

Officers attempted to remove Earl Jordan to allow others to advance when Christopher reportedly lunged toward another officer despite commands to “get back.” Earl was allegedly seen swiping at an officer’s face before grabbing their throat while Christopher tried wrestling away an officer’s baton.

Despite repeated efforts by police trying establish order amidst chaos created partly due Jordans' presence blocking movement forward along lower terrace line until another rioter pulled Christopher's backpack releasing grip enabling regroupment behind established perimeter line again later day further confrontations occurred near North Door where open-source video shows him throwing metal fencing
