Snohomish County veterinarian restricted on alleged improper treatment of two canine patients

OLYMPIA – The Veterinary Board of Governors restricted the license of Snohomish County veterinarian Susan Carroll Connor (VT.00003002) pending further legal action.

Connor allegedly practiced below the veterinary standards of care, which may have contributed to the ultimate death of two canine patients.

The charges state that Connor used sedation rather than general anesthesia for surgical procedures on the dogs, administered an improper dose of sedative, and failed to document the exam and procedures, among other violations. Both dogs became very sick, and another veterinarian diagnosed them with probable aspiration pneumonia and euthanized them.

Connor cannot perform procedures requiring either sedation or anesthesia in Washington until the charges are resolved. She has 20 days to request a hearing to contest the charges.

The legal documents on this case can be seen online by clicking the link on Provider Credential Search on the Department of Health website; copies can be requested by calling 360-236-4700. Anyone who believes a health care provider acted unprofessionally is encouraged to call this number and report their complaint.

The mission of the Veterinary Board of Governors is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public and their animals by regulating the competency and quality of veterinary health care providers and facilities.
