Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Emily Sheldrick to fill a new seat at the Clark County Superior Court.
The state Legislature recently approved the new judicial seat.
"Throughout her career in private practice and now as a public servant, Emily has earned the respect of her peers and community," Inslee said in a release on the Governor's website. "I expect her to do the same in this new judicial seat."
Prior to the governor's appointment, Sheldrick worked as the deputy prosecuting attorney in Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office civil division, the release said, a position she started in 2014. Since 2018, she was the chief civil deputy advising the Clark County Council and other officials. The role also included representing the county in litigation matters.
Sheldrick has previously worked in private practice in Vancouver since 2000, the release said. She earned her law degree at the University of Washington School of Law and her bachelor's from Oregon State University.
