Gov. Jay Inslee’s extension of Washington’s Safe Start Safe Reopening plan imposed new restrictions on bars, restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, weddings, funerals and other services.
As of July 24, eateries can operate at a 50% capacity and must stop alcohol service at 10 p.m., according to a document from Inslee's office on Phase 2 and Phase 3 requirements. Indoor dining is also limited to people in the same household.
Taverns, breweries, wineries and distilleries are prohibited from having indoor services and bar-area sitting is not allowed at any phase of the plan.
“At the moment, the only effective tool against this pandemic is to change some of our practices, and we need to do that,” the governor told The News Tribune. “Unfortunately, we know this, the rate of transmission has been increasing around the state. Our suppression of this virus is not at the level it needs to be to continue to allow us to continue to allow more activity.”
Inslee also extended the state’s eviction moratorium.
