U.S REPRESENATIVE SUZAN DELBENE (WA-1): DelBene Announces 2020 Military Academy Appointments from Washington’s First District

U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene (WA-1) issued the following announcement on July 2

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) announced that 16 high school graduates from Washington’s First Congressional District have accepted appointments to four U.S. military service academies.

Every year, DelBene has the privilege of nominating a limited number of students to the Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, Military Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.

“Serving at a U.S. military academy is an honor that only the best and brightest students get to experience. I’m proud to see 16 students from the First Congressional District achieve such a highly competitive accomplishment,” DelBene said. “I have no doubt they will represent our community with dignity and grace while joining the ranks of our country’s next generation of military leaders. Congratulations on a job well done!”

Below is a list of the nominees who accepted an appointment at their respective service academies:

U.S. Naval Academy

  • Logan Hewitt, Bellingham, Squalicum High School
  • Maya Ghali, Redmond, Seattle Preparatory School
  • Alex Mueller, Kirkland, Lake Washington High School
  • Anisha Chowdhry, Kenmore, Inglemoor High School
  • Tyler Massena, Snohomish, Snohomish High School
  • Devin Moore, Mill Creek, Archbishop Murphy High School
U.S. Air Force Academy

  • Ryan Cote, Lake Stevens, Snohomish High School
  • Kai Cavan, Woodinville, Woodinville High School
  • Samuel Mathis, Redmond, Redmond High School
  • Kate Simmons, Redmond, Eastside Catholic High School
  • Jeremiah Cronk, Deming, Mount Baker Senior High School
  • Jayden Talt, Snohomish, Cascade High School
U.S. Military Academy

  • Aaron Kalab, Lake Stevens, Marysville - Pilchuck High School
  • Michael Cannistra, Redmond, Redmond High School
  • Benjamin Lee, Bothell, Wiesbaden High School
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

  • Ellary Boyd, Custer, Ferndale High School
The honor of attending a military service academy comes with a commitment to service for a minimum of 5 years upon graduation.
