U.S. Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-3) issued the following announcement on June 9
Today, Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler announced the winners of Southwest Washington’s Congressional Art Competition, voted on by a panel of judges from across the region. The competition’s first prize winner is Mayci Bloomfeldt from Kelso High School, with her artwork entitled “Sissy Selfie.”
Due to Capitol Building closures amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the Congressional Art Competition reception has been rescheduled for the fall, and Bloomfeldt will be invited to Washington, D.C. to commemorate her artwork being displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building.
“Every year I marvel at the talent and creativity displayed by our Southwest Washington students,” Jaime said. “This year was no different, and the judges had a difficult decision in choosing our winners. I want to thank every student who submitted their artwork in this year’s competition, and I look forward to hanging Mayci’s artwork in the Capitol!”
